Would it really be more efficient? How?

I do whatever presents itself first, but I have a vague plan I usually
follow. The method is incredibly flexible. Usually, I start out with
a single c/e pair, and build from there. Inserting edges into a 1x2x3
is easy, and often very quick, because you can see the CLL case and
recognize it while completing the last edge. Getting a c/e pair with
the edge going in the DL or DR spots is fine, too, because inserting
the other edge to make a 2x2x1 is quick.

Generally, though, my solves follow the pattern (although I rotate the
cube a lot, so the position of the 1x2x3's can be anywhere in the
F2L): DL edge, c/e pair, c/e pair, DR edge, c/e pair, c/e pair. There
is still a lot of variation, though. Often, to start, you get c/e
pairs for opposite blocks you can solve easily, and just fill in the
rest. There are also times when you get to solve the DL and DR edges
easily, and you're left with c/e pairs only, like F2L.

I average about 50-52 moves total for the method. (STM)
