I think it's a great substitute. Put on a couple layers of nail polish
and then cover that with another couple layers of Hard as Nails or
some other clear coat. I think it was Grant that recommnended this. I
did it to my megaminx a while ago and got compliments about its glazed
look at Rutgers. It also holds up very well and looks the same as the
day it was painted. Another thing that I like (but many people don't)
is that you can paint right to the edge of and even over the cubie a
little so you can't even see the black plastic.
