I use the Petrus method and average 22-24 seconds with it. I've got
several sub-20 averages and sub-15 times, too... I don't know if these
advice help, but let's hope so:

1. Practice a lot doing the 2x2x2-box, you should try to do it in less
than 8 moves. I guess I average something like 6 moves, but I'm not sure.
2. During the inspection time, you should be able to plan out a bit
father than the 2x2x2, at least you should know which 2x2x3 you are
going to build. Also practicing to do the whole 2x2x3-block
blindfolded helps.
3. Don't always choose the fastest way to flip the edges in step 3. I,
for example, combine steps 3 and 4a quite often.
4. Learn some algs for the last pair, though this is not necessary.
5. For the LL, I highly recommend using OLL and PLL. At least I find
it better than COLL and PLL.
6. Practice going for fewest moves, you may find useful shortcuts or
other tricks.
