I completely agree. I have popped only a handful of times in my whole cubing career because I work hard not to. It really doesn't take that much effort. However, I've noticed that often, on larger cubes, it's impossible not to pop. My 4x4 routinely pops minorly for no reason at all during inner slice turns. This happens to me on various cubes, all different degrees of looseness. I have one 4x4 that I can't pop on purpose, but only because it's stiff enough I can only do inner slice turns as wrist turns, which is pretty impossible for speedcubing with my method. My 5x5 experiences are similar. I've never popped a piece, but I've broken and turned center corners, even while solving slowly, on opposite sides of the cube that it was impossible to see until I turned the cube completely around. I'm not asking for pops to be allowed, I'm just curious if there is any possible compromise in the rules to allow more effective cubing, taking into account twisted or broken pieces that are not done knowingly, or with any possible helpful effects. -Mike ------------------------ Yahoo!
