While solving a face seems like an obvious way to work up to solving a
layer, it doesn't really help you to understand the cube, does it?  It seems
like solving a 1x2x2 corner or even a 1x2x3 block would be a better first
step.

Careful though... she might turn into a roux solver. ;-D
