The Rubik's lube is good, and it even smells good. And I thought it was silicone, just a very liquidy suspension of it. It's so liquidy that you almost have to let it dry out for a while after lubing it.
Personally I prefer heavy weight silicone oil, like Shock Oil in hobby stores. It's odorless and the cube can be used right away. But if you already have the Rubik's lube in hand, give it a shot.
