In summary, you can :
- bypass the authntification with "expert" mode, but
you need to know the chap algorithm ( the variable
used are the mac adress and firmware version ). The
author doesn't give this algorithm.
- use bounce udp to enter the speedtouch.
All of these are only for ethernet speedtouch ( home,
pro etc ...) , not usb.
Of course,usb is more secure in this way ( from
internet, you cannot send usb packet ).
The last one, that is true for ethernet and usb, is
the availability for the adsl provider or everyone
who can acces the copper line and simulate a DSLAM to
tftp a new rom without any authentification. But in
our case of speedtouch usb, the microcode is uploaded
after each reboot, then it is less interesting.
