I used to have this problem with ppp-2.4.0 and pppoa2. I don't with
2.4.0 and pppoa3. :-)
However, you might find the scripts in
http://www.locofungus.btinternet.co.uk/scripts/ useful as they
continuously test the connection and restart it if required. They can also
update dynamic dns providers.
I have made significant changes since I uploaded those scripts. I now run
the script every 5 minutes via cron because the connection doesn't often
go down. I have uploaded the new scripts to /scripts/updated/ but you
can't browse to it from /scripts/ because the bt webserver is broken :-(
(You must put the trailing slashes for it to work)
