Hi, I'm writing to you because I'm trying to set up your drivers for the Speedtouch USB modem. I've been using the Alcatel provided drivers for some time now, with varying degrees of success. At times, they seem to work very well, but at others (which seem to be largely unrelated to usage levels) they fail regularly, leaving the system in a state that requires a reboot to start working again.
However, having followed the instructions at http://benoit.papillault.free.fr/speedtouch/user.en.php3, I am left with the system not able to connect. I get the following message in my /var/log/messages file when I run pppd: Oct 1 18:43:04 ice pppd[218]: Couldn't attach tty to PPP unit 0: Invalid argument For reference, I am using: kernel 2.4.10 with the follow modules loaded: Module Size Used by n_hdlc 6056 1 (autoclean) ppp_synctty 4572 1 (autoclean) ppp_generic 13896 1 (autoclean) [ppp_synctty] slhc 4608 0 (autoclean) [ppp_generic] usb-uhci 21964 0 (unused) ne 7360 1 (autoclean) pppd 2.3.11 (unpatched) pppoa2 version $Name: tar_gz_15082001 My PPP peer file is as per the example on the above-mentioned page.
