I now discovered that without the modem connected, i.e. without anything
plugged in the usb port of my PC, I also get the same message when I do
umount /proc/bus/usb   device is busy;
when I then perform a halt there is never a problem with umounting. Do
you now have other suggestions for things to look after to solve this
problem?
