Nope. I don't believe that is caused by the SMP...

I have this when using pppoa3... I'm back at ppoa2. And they're as stable as can
be...

FWIW

pppoa3 just forks ad-inifinitum...
pppoa2m repeatedly dies & starts a new connection. About once a minute from
memory...

pppoa2 works fine for me. Apart from some corruption somewhere on combinations of
certain files from certain sites...
