Hi all. I've followed the instructions in 'SpeedTouchUSB-HOWTO using Benoit Papillault's OpenSource drivers' to the letter. Still no joy.
I'm connecting to Demon in the UK with RedHat 8.0. It's a recent 2.4 kernel - I can't remember the exact revision - I'm having to boot into Windows to write this email (ag!). Here is my /etc/ppp/options: lock noipdefault noauth usepeerdns Here is /etc/ppp/peers/adsl debug kdebug 1 noipdefault defaultroute pty "/usr/sbin/pppoa3 -m 1 -c -vpi 0 -vci 35" sync user "(login name removed)" noauth noaccomp nopcomp noccp novj holdoff 4 persist maxfail 25 usepeerdns And here is the log when I try to connect: Oct 27 09:57:20 davemac pppd[1666]: pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0 Oct 27 09:57:20 davemac pppd[1666]: using channel 28 Oct 27 09:57:20 davemac pppd[1666]: Using interface ppp0 Oct 27 09:57:20 davemac pppd[1666]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/2 Oct 27 09:57:20 davemac pppoa3[1667]: PPPoA3 version 1.1 started by root (uid 0) Oct 27 09:57:20 davemac pppoa3[1667]: Control thread ready Oct 27 09:57:20 davemac pppoa3[1673]: ppp(d) --> pppoa3 --> modem stream ready Oct 27 09:57:20 davemac pppoa3[1674]: modem --> pppoa3 --> ppp(d) stream ready Oct 27 09:57:21 davemac pppd[1666]: sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x34ec3b35>] Oct 27 09:57:48 davemac last message repeated 9 times Oct 27 09:57:51 davemac pppd[1666]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests Oct 27 09:57:51 davemac pppd[1666]: Connection terminated. Any clues would be greatly appreciated. Dave McNeill Liste de diffusion modem ALCATEL SpeedTouch USB Pour se dsinscrire : mailto:speedtouch-request@;ml.free.fr?subject=unsubscribe
