Ok, Ive been using my Speedtouch 'Frog' since Nov 2001, Its nice and dusty, with Linux and btopenworld. It takes a bit of time getting connected - but always connects at top speed, there are CRC errors fairly regularly:
Feb 11 13:51:20 mungbean pppoa2[14074]: CRC error in an AAL5 frame but not too many to make me cry. Ive attached my 'cat /proc/bus/usb/devices' at the end for any interest. My box is an old PII400 Intel BX mobo, using USB-UHCI. Slackware 8.1 etc. Im using 'speedtouch-20011007', with: /usr/local/bin/modem_run -m -v 2 -f mgmt.o Now, if it aint broke, dont fix it. It aint! But Im about to upgrade my Kernel et al in a day or so. And so, I want to move with the times. Preliminarily, the above stuff works fine, on my tests. Any advice on issues to consider. Or am I dumb to upgrade when its all fine. Of course, I know I can downgrade again ...
