Hello,
My speedtouch modem is running fine with almost no problems. But very
occasionally (maybe once a week) I get an error like this:
Mar 2 02:56:44 giles kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeoutMar 2 02:56:44
giles kernel: usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_BULK failed dev 2 ep 0x7 len 106 ret -110
Once this error had occurred, the speedtouch driver would be stuck in a
loop, giving the same error over an over again until I killed it and
re-started it (or until the log file filled up the disk).
I'm sure this is a USB problem: I'm running on some very old hardware. But
I've found an easy work-around by means of the following patch:

Now I just get the error reported once, and then pppoa3 terminates, and
pppd hangs up the connection and then starts a new connection. This is not
ideal, but it is a lot better than the previous behaviour.
Regards,
John
