We've just been trying to get the 1.2-beta2 things working on a Red Hat
9 system with kernel 2.4.20-8.
I think we're almost there, these are some messages that are appearing
in /var/log/messages:

kbit/s up)
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module ppp0
So, we're almost there - just can't seem to get the ppp side of things
working. Can anyone tell us what to do next?
