Hi all, I've been battling with this for a few days now, and I simply can't get the firmware uploaded to the old 'frog' Speedtouch modem. I am using version 1.2 beta 3 of the speedtouch source.
I've tried the following firmware revisions: ce3582cc9c3b967baa0e918f2708075d mgmt.o adae14d607b8caa6acc253feb1d82705 firmware.bin 7d0e028a8e3901bc0b5b569c575203ef alcudsl.sys and none of them will upload. The messages in my syslog are always (obviously with different firmware details): Dec 16 20:52:11 objektiv modem_run[4686]: modem_run version 1.2-beta3 started by root uid 0 Dec 16 20:52:11 objektiv modem_run[4686]: Found ALCATEL SpeedTouch USB modem Dec 16 20:52:11 objektiv modem_run[4686]: Best offset 6463 with probability 100% Dec 16 20:52:11 objektiv modem_run[4686]: Best offset 526179 with probability 100% Dec 16 20:52:11 objektiv modem_run[4686]: Firmware information (CRC:0x94a45435, Size:526187, 1.3.3 - GNU/Linux - Win32) Dec 16 20:52:13 objektiv kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout Dec 16 20:52:13 objektiv kernel: usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_BULK failed dev 2 ep 0x85 len 512 ret -110 Dec 16 20:52:15 objektiv kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout Dec 16 20:52:15 objektiv kernel: usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_BULK failed dev 2 ep 0x5 len 883 ret -110 Dec 16 20:52:15 objektiv modem_run[4686]: BLOCK1 Dec 16 20:52:15 objektiv modem_run[4686]: Retrying to upload microcode (#0) Dec 16 20:52:15 objektiv modem_run[4686]: Best offset 6463 with probability 100% Dec 16 20:52:15 objektiv modem_run[4686]: Best offset 526179 with probability 100% Dec 16 20:52:16 objektiv modem_run[4686]: Firmware information (CRC:0x94a45435, Size:526187, 1.3.3 - GNU/Linux - Win32) Dec 16 20:52:18 objektiv kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout which then repeats over and over. I've tried using the '-s' option to modem_run, but that makes no difference. I'm using Redhat 9.0 with the latest up2date SMP kernel on an Abit BP6 with dual Celerons. I have another machine running Mandrake 8.2 with an Abit BE6 (single Pentium II) and that works fine with the same modem. I tried transplanting the RH9 hard disc into this machine to see if it was a USB issue, but I get exactly the same problems there. Could it be the SMP kernel? On a slightly different thread, I have also tried with the kernel-space driver and this won't compile, giving the same errors as in the mailing list message: http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg05001.html Could someone kindly re-post the makefile patch to the list? Many thanks for any help you can give., Paul. ________________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned for all viruses by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
