I am attempting to get an Alcatel USB Speedtouch DSL modem running on my slackware system. It's a fresh install from slackware-current, so all drivers, kernel modules, etc are up to date. (kernel ver 2.4.23)
Based on docs found at; http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/docs/howto.html I recompiled the stock kernel to include; Code Maturity Level Options Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers Y Networking Options Packet Socket Y Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) (EXPERIMENTAL) Y Network device support PPP (point-to-point protocol) support y PPP Deflate compression y PPP over ATM y USB support Preliminary USB device filesystem y UHCI (Intel PIIX4, VIA, ...) support m OHCI (Compaq, iMacs, OPTi, SiS, ALi, ...) support m Note, this only represents options that were changed from the stock kernel. I then configured, compiled, and installed (via checkinstall) the speedbundle-1.0; http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/ When I plug the modem in, I get (from /var/log/messages); Dec 20 05:10:21 vlad kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:07.2-2, assigned address 2 Dec 20 05:10:29 vlad usb.agent[12915]: ... no modules for USB product 6b9/4061/0 Dec 20 05:10:29 vlad usb.agent[12906]: ... no modules for USB product 6b9/4061/0 Dec 20 05:10:29 vlad usb.agent[12908]: ... no modules for USB product 6b9/4061/0 And in /var/log/syslog; Dec 20 05:10:21 vlad kernel: usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x6b9/0x4061) is not claimed by any active driver. Am I correct in thinking that this is telling me that the hotplugging stuff is not working? What is my next step in getting this thing working? Any help appreciated.
