Hello My French isn't good enough to pose these questions, so my apologies for sticking to English :)
I am running 2.4.20 on a celeron box (suse 8.2 distro). I used to have a dual boot system wth XP on it, and was using my Alcatel from there. Due to an error, I ended up with GRUB in my MBR and no way to get back to XP so rather than reinstall XP i went for a swap to Linux. I have a dial up via demon and an ADSL account via zen. The zen account and Alcatel USB modem has been confirmed as working by using it in XP. The dial up account works ok from this version of Linux. I downloaded the speedbundle, found the firmware and ran make and make install. Because make at one point goes into /usr/src/linux I had to run make as root. Ditto make install. I am using gcc 3.3 and noticed a lot of warning coming up during the make but no errors. I also had to edit chap_secrets and pap_secrets (although I don't use these for my dial up account). The lsusb command gives Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 001 Device 002: ID 06b9:4061 Alcatel Telecom Speed Touch ISDN and did this before I installed the speedtouch module. /proc/bus/usb/001/002 also exists. I have noticed dsl0 appearing on boot up with manual listed by it. The modem has been attached to the computer all the way through and has shown green lights all the time. The firmware I used was firmware.bin (671635 bytes) and KQD6P2.eni. I use wvdial to connect via my Dial Up acount but how do I connect using the Alcatel and my broadband account? How do I know the driver install has worked? Would be wonderful to have this thing working so would be grateful for any hints or help Thank you in advance and apologies if this is being either plain daft or is answered elsewhere.
