Hi,

Since I was having downstream problems with the user space driver and
the alcaudsl.sys firmware, I installed the latest Debian speedtouch
packet and built in the kerneldriver (2.4.22). I'm using Debian-Knoppix
(=testing/unstable) and got the burgundy Speedtouch 330 which the Dutch
telecom KPN hands out to adsl-assignees. My provider is Wanadoo NL
(lite), which is currently 384/128 kbps.

I followed the instructions on
http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/docs/sargehowto.html
except that I use the built-in Debian script, and it all seemed to work
fine. I'm using the firmware file from
http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/index.php?/download.en.html now.

When I type pppd call speedtch I get local and remote IP, and
/etc/resolv.conf is ok. There is just no traffic whatsoever when I try
to go online. Ping gives messages like unknown host, also when I use an
IP address. I shut down the firewall, but no way. I put the modem_run
options -m -f -s in the script, that didn't work either. Could it be
that I should remove netfiltering modules from the kernel?

Iptables -L -n gives IP-addresses with only zero's.

I searched the messages, but I can't find a good answer to this. Could
anybody please help me out?

Btw, it doesn't seem to be possible to go back to my original
configuration, it just doesn't work anymore somehow. And I would still
have the crappy downstream: it used to be around 15 kbps instead of the
42 I get sometimes with Wintendo, which I'm forcibly using now.

Oh, and I wish everyone happy holidays, merry Christmas and a very good
newyear.

Reentje
