I hope someone responds to this plea for help. I have a Speedtouch USB modem and have been studying the Howto's etc - nothing seems to work. I need help with the most basic of things. Eg how exactly do you download what is needed and where do you download it too ie what directory in Linux or doesn�t it matter? Why do those TAR commands do nothing etc?

Is it possible to get detailed step by step instructions - a lot of info assumes you have linux experience and understand what to do and what to do next. I haven't. I'd like to, but I'd like to have a system up and running first. Reading web sites which suggest it will just work, and getting hold of a linux system because it offers a largely automated install are very luring and tempting words to those wishing to escape the clutches of dirty M$. I've got the mdk and I love it, as well as OpenOffice and Mozilla - it's all great and often better stuff than previos. Unfortunately, it's not all plain sailing and is quite difficult to take everything on board at the same time. I want to learn, but at the moment it feels very much like I'm in the deep end and way out of my depth. Can anyone help me get the 330 online, please.
