Hi, I am in great despair.
I have an usb speedtouch that worked fine up to several days ago. I use debian testing/unstable with 2.6.4 kernel. 2.6.5 kernel is so buggy I am back to 2.6.4. I am not able to upload the firmware to the modem anymore : whenever I run modem_run -k -f /usr/share/lib/speedtouch/mgmt.o I get "kernel driver speedtch already loaded" annoying message. And verbose mode won't help. This strange behavior happened after an upgrade of debian packages, I guess. I tried several things but am forced to give up and buy a new modem, unless I find some clue here... (what a shame, I am writing from a Windows machine). I tried to : - manually rmmod'ing/modprobe'ing speedtch and pppoatm before calling modem_run. - checking then removing /etc/hotplug/usb/speedtch so that I have full control of the driver's load (well, in fact not). So the problem is : when speedtch is loaded, modem_run fails saying it is already loaded. When speedtch isn't loaded, it get loaded when I launch modem_run that subsequently fails. Thank you very much for helping me. My despair is greater because I am going to move soon, so won't be able to correct this problem in a few days... and for a while. I'm very seriously thinking of buying an ethernet modem, but how sad, this speedtouch was expensive at first.
