Hi, I'm trying to get my speedtouch usb modem working under linux. I have to say that
Suse have a special help on its portal (
http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/05/configSpeedTouch.html ), so no need to patch the
kernel or anything but my problem is when I try to connect with Kinternet (which is a
simplified program who uses pppd), I get this message :
SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.16 on linux.
Status is: disconnected

pppd[0]: Connection terminated.
Status is: disconnected
pppd[0] died: pppd received a signal (exit code 5)
since it is using pppd, I checked the man pages, and apparently signal 15 is for
"The link was terminated because the peer is not
responding to echo requests."
Great, but where my problem is coming from? Can anyone give me a hint on this? I'm
using tiscali as provider, so maybe I have done something wrong.
exit code 5 isn't interesting, but for those who are curious it's "Pppd terminated
because it was sent a SIGINT,
SIGTERM or SIGHUP signal." and if you look at what those signals do,
well they only terminate the link with the device, then exit.
thanks for reading me, I hope someone will give me an answer quickly, because I have
been working on it for days now.
