hi,

have been using the document 'speedtouch usb howto using benoit
papillault's GPL drivers'

and benoits drivers to use a speedtouch 330 usb modem to connect on an
adsl line, using suse 8, kernel version 2.4.20

The only difference was i used the rpm file with yast to install the
software, but then carried on with the documents set up and run
instructions.

the modem works fine with windows, so i'm using the alcaudsl.sys file i
found there

all the bits seem to be in place, all goes well untill i run 'pppd call
adsl updetach' - i've tried using pppoa3 and pppoa2 with similar
results, the one shown here is with pppoa2 (it has been cycling through
channels by the way, here it was trying channel 5 & 6)

i then get the following messages:

muswell:/usr # pppd call adsl updetach
using channel 5
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/2

Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/4
Script /usr/sbin/pppoa2 -vpi 0 -vci 38 finished (pid 2894), status = 0x0

i do not understand what this is saying - how far in the process of
connection to the modem and then to my isp (demon) does this signify etc.

any suggestions would be most gratefully received,

with thanks
ruth
