Hello,

I'm new to Linux and I'm having trouble setting up my green manta
ray. I'm using a Slackware 10 derivative called Topologilinux (kernel
2.4.28) in an Athlon 900 box with 196 MB and 60 GB hard disk drive with
plenty af free space.
After installing all necessary packages for compiling, I first tried
Speedtouchconf-10-Nov-2004 to get the Alcatel running and the last
message I got from the script was

    "...Software Installation - SUCCESS
The modem lights should start flashing for approx. 20 seconds..."

after wich it seemed the script hung and the lights never flashed.

Then I tried Speedtouch-1.3.1 following the SpeedTouch USB HOWTO and
when doing "# mount none -proc-bus-usb -t usbdevfs" it answers the
usbdevfs is already mounted or busy. After that when modprobing usb-uhci
I got a ".../usb/host/usb-uhci.o.gz: init_module: No such device" message.

Finally I found your Speedbundle-1.0 and tried it with no avail. I
ran Speed'doctor and here is the output,
"Doctor

modem_run version 1.3"

Topo is the 2nd Linux platform I try. 1st one was Winlinux but the
UMSDOS filesystem gave me several headaches so I'm trying Topo since it
lets me try Linux as in a real hard disk intallation without the hassle
of disk partitioning. At least it's running better than Winlinux except
for the Alcatel problem. I was able to use the Speedtouch in Winlinux
(RedHat 7.3) with the Speedtouch-1.3.1 package.

    Regards,

    Alonso
