Hi,

I did what I planned for this weekend: I installed FC3 from scratch to a
different hardware and then I followed the steps mentioned in the webpage
http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/fedora/core-3.html but the
result is exactly the same as before (except for the soundcard instability
problem, which does not exist in the new hardware):

1. The modem flashes the leds normally as firmware is loaded (I used the one
extracted from mgmt.o) and I received a message in the log saying that the
line is up.

kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 2
kernel: usb 1-1: control timeout on ep0in
kernel: usbcore: registered new driver speedtch
kernel: usb 1-1: found stage 1 firmware speedtch-1.bin
kernel: usb 1-1: found stage 2 firmware speedtch-2.bin
kernel: ADSL line is synchronising
kernel: DSL line goes up
kernel: ADSL line is up (512 Kib/s down | 128 Kib/s up)

2. the bridge and pppd are initiated long before the modem is detected and
firmware is uploaded:

I tried to contact my ISP but got no help from there, they claim to support
only windows connections.

What is going on? What have I forgotten o done wrong?
Thanks in advance,

Jyrki
