Hi I have strange problem with speedtouch 330 usb modem (V4-silver) under FedoraCore 3. Fedora is up2dated with 'YUM' - kernel 2.6.10-1.766_FC3.
When I connected modem first time kernel said that: > kernel: usb 1-1: no stage 1 firmware found! It's ok, firmware was missing. After creating these files: > $ md5sum /lib/firmware/* > 0503efe8d7efc0fe10e7593cecdb8fb8 /lib/firmware/speedtch-1.bin (935) > 79300e856fbef976c99fe339be8ba238 /lib/firmware/speedtch-2.bin (775545) And replugging modem, kernel gave different message: > kernel: usb 1-2: found stage 1 firmware speedtch-1.bin > kernel: usb 1-2: no stage 2 firmware found! Firmware is in place, and looks to be fine, but why kernel cannot load it? When I restart computer with plugged modem everything is fine: > kernel: usb 1-2: found stage 1 firmware speedtch-1.bin > kernel: usb 1-2: found stage 2 firmware speedtch-2.bin My problem is quite complicated, because of my little brother. He likes to pull cables and disconnect them :( So simple replug and 'hotplug' feature of linux will fail with 'no stage 2 firmware found!', and I need to reboot my pc. I searched a little and found that there was: http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/usbatm-commits/2005-February/000064.html some changes, related to firmware loading in usb_atm. What should I do in this situation? Wait for Fedora-kernel update or my problem lies somewhere else? Please help.
