If you're using 2.6.11, then the good stuff is in usbatm:
do modinfo usbatm. speedtch and usbatm work together.

Probably it's equal to the MTU. If you run pppd with debug, like this:
pppd debug my_other_usual_options
then you should see it negotiating with your ISP. They may negotiate
the MRU for example. Anyway, I think there's a pppd option for it. It
matters less because after all your ISP is only going to send you
packets of a size it is happy with (unlike with MTU where you could send
packets that are too big for your ISP). Nothing in the driver or modem
cares if your ISP sends you enormous packets.
