Yes it's possible, using atmarp : # atmarpd -b -l syslog # atmarp -c atm0 # ifconfig atm0 <your IP address> netmask 255.255.255.0 mtu 1500 up # atmarp -s <your gateway IP address> <VPI>.<VCI> null # route add default gw <your gateway address> I got this information from this page (in French) : http://groups.google.fr/groups?selm=3F677EAC.6070806%40wanadoo.fr And I've added atmarp support in Mandrakelinux 10.2, drakconnect allows to configure speedtouch with static IP address (useful for Free Degroupe in France), and our initscripts handle atmarp settings.
