Many thanks for the answers. They were very usefull.
However I still have the problem so I tell you what I
think:

> - usb may be disabled in bios
I dont think so. The computer has also a WinXP and
the modem works fine. Also I cheked in BIOS and is not
disabled.

> - did you use a kernel from the 2.2 branch?
It says that I have the 2.6.7 Kernel

> - you may have you have an ohci controller
I dont know how to check that. But if I have, what
should I do?
Also at the start (when the Debian is loading), it say
that there is an UHCI usb controller. And there
dosent seem to be an error.

> - usb-uhci (or uhci :another driver for the same
controller on ) module is not compilated (that should
be not the case on a standard debian kernel to my
knowledge as I don't use it) .
How can I confirm that? And if it is so, how do I
compile?

I know there are to many questions. Sorry if this
bother to you. Im just a begginer on Linux and my
english is very poor. However I want you to know that
Im an Electronic Engineering Student (near to
graduate) and I have knowledges on programming (C,
Pascal, Assembler, etc..). So Im doing my best to
enter on the Linux world and I would really appreciate
if you could help me.
Thanks
Leonardo Marzano
