(Thanks for the helpful replies to my earlier message) I followed all the instructions on the Ubuntu page, but set up (wrongly) for PPPoE first of all. When this didn't work, I went through the PPPoATM steps (deleting the existing files it complained about). It still doesn't work, and the device doesn't appear in my Network Devices either (just have ppp0, eth0 and eth1).
