Which place? Was the partition containing it mounted when hotplug was looking for the firmware? Also, what messages did you get in your system log? This kind of problem has come up a couple of times; I think the kernel firmware loading stuff is buggy (a race condition in it was recently fixed, so if you are lucking the latest -rc kernel may work better). > Now I have got it to work by using modem-run to load my old (one file) > firmware , however I get a lot of errors in the log file and occasional > gaps in communication that might be related.
