That sounds like a plan. I think that's the way to go, but I need to think 
about the wording for a bit.
I have visions of people making a mistake setting things up and failing to 
connect, trying those options
to disable compression and then sending a message to the list. "I disabled 
compression and it didn't
help...". It works for me with these options commented out

# nobsdcomp
# nodeflate
# nopcomp
# noccp
# novj


Sorry for bothering you about this as you don't use ppp. I wish it had been 
brought up on the list then other people could comment.
