Hi... The HowTo's never worked for me. Now, please follow that link http://speedtouchconf.sourceforge.net/, please browse the FAQ and follow the "example" steps precisely, and please note: If you have the "silver modem (Rev 4)" only copy the rev4fw.zip into the speedtouchconf-06-03-2005 directory after running the script (do not unzip it) and never use alcaudsl.sys, the latter is the older version and will take preference (see FAQ #7) and that if u have the silver modem only.
Unistall every other older FW before you start, the script should delete mgmt.o but anyways please be sure of that. You should be fine as long you are using higher Kernels (2.6.xx or above) I have tried it on many distros, the procedure worked FLAWLESS..
