First off. I am running Fedora Core 4 on an i386 processor with both the
original kernel off the install disks and the most recent stock kernel. The
modem is a Silver revision 4 modem.
When I boot the modem does the firmware loading and the ADSL line synchronising
stages without fault but when trying to connect pppd seems to halt after the
following messages in /var/log/messages

btw, those messages were taken after doing the followign commands:
ifdown ppp0
modprobe -r speedtch
[unplug/replug the modem]
[wait for the ADSL line to synchronise]
ifup ppp0
Does anyone know why this might be? Thanks in advance for any help.
I havent yet tried adding debug to the pppd options. If this turns up anything
useful I will post it later.
