Sorry, it should have read:
/sys/bus/usb/drivers/speedtch/(device_name)/version
however I just noticed that the version field is not there, strange...
As for /proc/bus/usb/devices being empty, are you sure you have a
host controller driver loaded, like uhci-hcd?
