I installed OpenSuSE 10.2 on an Athec LT51 laptop. It seems that no script
is activated to load the firmware on the Speedtouch 330 modem when it is
plugged in.
What I did was simply installing OpenSuSE 10.2 and after installation
copying the binaries speedtch-1.bin and speetch-2.bin in /lib/firmware. On
boot or on hotplugging, the modem is recognized, but after that no further
action is taken by the system. Here the output from /var/log/messages.

Normally, one might expect further messages like the following:

I had a look at the output of udevmonitor --env to see what happens when
the modem is plugged in and I find, among a lot of output, the line:

PHYSDEVDRIVER=usb

Now I also have openSuSE 10.2 installed on a desktop, where the same
speedtouch modem functions correctly and there the corresponding line
reads:
PHYSDEVDRIVER=speedtch

Also, the module speedtch is not found on my laptop

I am not at home with all the kernel business, so can someone please tell
what is wrong on my laptop?
