I installed OpenSuSE 10.2 on an Athec LT51 laptop. It seems that no script is activated to load the firmware on the Speedtouch 330 modem when it is plugged in. What I did was simply installing OpenSuSE 10.2 and after installation copying the binaries speedtch-1.bin and speetch-2.bin in /lib/firmware. On boot or on hotplugging, the modem is recognized, but after that no further action is taken by the system. Here the output from /var/log/messages.
