[listbox-lo] New Subscriber Archives and RSS Available! February 1, 2007
We are pleased to announce new Subscriber Archives are now available for testing! The new archives feature: * Improved handling for text formatting and HTML messages * Searching by email address and subject * RSS feeds * "Hiding" of specific messages from your archive At this time, the new archives are visible only to listowners. To see the new archives, please log in to your Member page and click on the "Archives" tab. Other list subscribers doing this will continue to see the existing archives, and there is a link at the bottom of each message listing page to allow you to "View the Live Archives". If you would like to send the link to the new archives to selected list subscribers, please direct them to http://www.listbox.com/member/archive Please note they will have to log in first. How to Hide Messages Previously, it was not possible to remove messages from the subscriber archive, because they were not linked to the archives you see as listowners. Now, subscriber archives use the same messages you see as listowners. However, this may mean that messages that have previously been deleted from your subscriber archive by Customer Service are now visible. You can hide all messages before a specific date easily by clicking your list name at the top of the archives. At the bottom of that page, you will see a yellow section, visible only to listowners. There, you can "Hide all messages sent before this date". A calendar will pop up in the text box to help you select the day you want. You can also hide individual messages, sent at any time, by going to that message in your Messages area. Every sent message will now have a "Hide" button, which will remove that message from the Subscriber Archives. Hidden messages can also be made visible again, and they are always visible to listowners. About RSS Feeds RSS feeds allow people to bring together information from many different sources in a single location. Unlike a web archive, which you need to go check to see if there are new posts, an RSS feed reader will go and check for you, then display any new information. Many blogs and websites now offer feeds for many different types of information, and we are pleased to add them to Listbox lists. Listbox RSS feeds produce a unique feed address for each subscriber. Subscribers who unsubscribe from the list will lose access to the feed. Subscribers can get their link to the feed by going to the list archive, and clicking the RSS feed image image. Switching Your List to the New Archives You can switch your list to use the new archives at any time. Click your list name at the top of the page. There, you will see the text "Update your list to use these archives for all subscribers". Clicking the "Update My List" button will switch your "Archives" tab to use the new archives. Once switched, the new archives will be visible to all subscribers, and the old archives will no longer be available. We Want Your Feedback! If you see any problems or experience any errors using the new archives, please let us know! Your issues may affect many other listowners, so we'd like to correct them as quickly as possible. Just send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or Contact Us.
