I just spent too many minutes trying to figure out why a document was 
not rendering the way I expected it to (or that it would render with 
rst2html) and finally found this small note:

"Note that Sphinx disables the use of enumerated lists introduced by 
alphabetic or roman numerals"

At the very least it might help if it were promoted to a real .. note::. 
I think it should at least explain why they were disabled.  Why were 
they disabled?  Also, if it is really necessary that they be disabled it 
might be nice to at least output a warning when it looks like someone 
might be using one.
