The Sphinx documentation claims that this requires preview-latex.
However, shouldn't it be sufficient to set style="vertical-align:
middle" for all inline formulas? Even if this sometimes causes
trouble, I'm pretty sure it looks better say 99% of the time. (If
Sphinx would define a CSS class for inline formula imgs, I could also
set the global vertical alignment myself.)
