Why not?

For example, if you use rst2pdf from svn  (http://rst2pdf.googlecode.com) and 
sphinx you can probably do something like this for the PDF side:

http://lateral.netmanagers.com.ar/stories/BBS52.html

That's just restructured text, not sphinx, but the idea should be the same.
