Hi,

Here is a feature request, which I am unable to figure out how to
easily accomplish by myself, and I hope will be generally useful for
others.

   The URL: http://djangobook.com/about/comments/ demonstrates
a very useful commenting system for people engaged in writing
documentation. The reference (to Jack Slocum), for how the system
works, listed at the URL no longer works, and google searches for
related references are generally quite stale.

    StackOverFlow.com (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1049272/
unable-to-find-build-a-commenting-system-similar-as-at-djangobook)
fields an inquiry about how the system works. And offers a
speculative outline of how the system might work along with some
pointers to freely available code implementing the system.

The book "Mercurial: The Definitive Guide" uses a similar system
created by the author after studying and failing to obtain the code
for the Djangobook system (the authors felt the code was too rough to
release) (for an example of the comment system - see: the page:
http://hgbook.red-bean.com/read/preface.html and you will encounter
opportunities to add "comments"). Personally, I prefer the 'look and
feel' of the Djangobook system over the Mercurial book system.

I am unsure if others share my belief that such a system is
potentially quite valuable. It seems (from my google searches) that
many other people are also looking for such a system. I lack both the
programming skill and time to dive into figuring this thing out. I am
unable to figure out how hard it would be to add this feature to
Sphinx. I speculate that Sphinx, augmented with a commenting system,
would immediately (in my opinion) strongly differentiate itself from
others.
