Hello Henk, if I am not mistaken Sphinx does not yet fully support Windows (but I don't know why).
You might want to take a look at rst2pdf [1] which uses ReportLab to directly create PDFs from reStructuredText. I currently use it a lot for short documents like project descriptions.
