No, the LaTeX builder would use the third configuration variable,
`fotos_base_path`. The system requires a local mirror of the image
collection (during a latex build). I have my 10 GB private photo
collection on a local hard drive and use rsync to upload it to the server.

But thanks for helping me to clarify my problem.

My feeling says that a custom role is better.

I *did* use the source, but docutils is complex, and if nobody has mercy
on me and helps me to learn, i'll need much more time. I have the
feeling that my posted code is quite close to a solution, but I must be
missing some point, and I am locked.
