I've got a multi-volume book and want to autonumber the parts and
sections.
Having trouble understanding how to use :numbered:. Can it be reset?
Can it be switched on and off?
Looks like, if it is present, it is on.
Here's the basic document skeleton. There are numbered parts,
unnumbered sections (where page numbers should be roman), numbered
sections (normal page numbering), and appendices where numbering
starts again is preceded with a letter. Should be about 600 pages of
content (current DocBook output).
