I'm not sure if this is intended behavior or a bug, some I'm asking here
first before issuing any bug report.

I work on the Astropy project, and we build our docs with sphinx
automatically with (nearly) every commit as part of a continuous
integration process. One of the steps in our doc build is thus to install
the latest sphinx. I noticed that it recently started failing, however,
coinciding with Sphinx 1.2b1 going up on PyPI. You can see the log for the
failure at
https://s3.amazonaws.com/archive.travis-ci.org/jobs/5958983/log.txt (scroll
to the very bottom), although most of that probably isn't useful if you
don't know the Astropy code.

The key point is that Sphinx 1.2 seems to have changed its behavior
relative to Sphinx 1.1.3 such that it now is pickling a class that wasn't
being pickled before (possibly due to our use of autodoc/autosummary and
some related extensions). The problem is that I don't see anything on the
sphinx changelog that has anything to do with modifying the doctree
building behavior. So do you have any idea what change might have caused
this?
