In my Sphinx documentation, I have many chapters and each chapter cites
other works. I would like to put a list of citations at the end of each
chapter, and I am doing this:

(in chapter.rst):

.. rubric:: References

.. [REF1] stuff here

This works great for the "html" target of Sphinx. However for the
"latexpdf" target, it puts ALL references from all chapters at the very end
of the PDF document in a new section called "BIBLIOGRAPHY". This is
terrible since nothing is sorted correctly or grouped together by chapter.

Does anyone know how to modify the latexpdf output to put references where
I place them in the document text?

I am using the "Read the Docs" theme if that helps.
