This actually boots: qemu-kvm /var/lib/libvirt/images/windows.img -usbdevice tablet -soundhw ac97 -vga qxl -spice port=5900,disable-ticketing -enable-kvm -m 1024 So it seems that my initial problem (the BSOD) might have been caused by the guest not having enough memory. The problem is that the drive is non-virtio (device manager shows QEMU harddisk ata device), and there are 3 unknown devices: VGA, audio and ethernet. I'm attaching the spicec.log for the failing command anyway since I think it would be nice to get this working with all the niceness virt-manager created. Julian P.S.
