So you want that? case RRNotify: { + XRRNotifyEvent *ne = (XRRNotifyEvent *) &event; + g_assert(ne->subtype == RRNotify_CrtcChange); It's superflous, RRNotify_CrtcChange is a subtype of RRNotify, the only one we can catch here.
