Thanks Daniel. You just made my day. Setting the i8402prt parameter
PollStatusIterations to 1 with the registry editor does indeed fix or at
least work around this issue.
I'm not convinced though that this is not related to KVM/Spice yet.
Would the emulated i8402prt not be fed by KVM/Spice?
