I agree with Joe on this one, those units are big, especially when you include the inboard discs for brakes.
If one is having troubles with the sliding joint that is currently required to adjust for the differing shaft lengths at the various positions of suspension travel, a CV joint might be best suited. These adjust on front wheel drive cars just fine. If part of the notion is to eliminate the rather fragile differential, cut down american differentials are available from various circle track racing supply companies. Mazda and Subaru differentials have also been fitted with good success. For reworking the entire rear suspension, Tim at GRMS did just that on his RotoSpit. You could contact him and ask him about it. He's in the office today, and fussing about playing again with the RotoSpit, or some other similar project. So you'd probably get lots of information on that custom suspension they built for the RotoSpit. >>> Barry Schwartz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 03/19/02 02:21PM >>> I was just contemplating the possible fully independent rear of my street rod (40 Ford truck jag style) and realized that the same setup might be adapted to a Spitfire, without modifying any part of the body or frame! /// [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list /// Send admin requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] /// or try http://www.team.net/cgi-bin/majorcool /// Send list postings to [EMAIL PROTECTED] /// Edit your replies!
